Movie: Children of Men
In the year 2027, Earth faces an ecocide due to human activities, causing widespread environmental devastation. Eighteen years of human infertility, war, and global depression push the world to the brink of collapse. The United Kingdom stands as one of the last nations with a functioning government, albeit transformed into a police state where immigrants face arrest, imprisonment, or execution.
Theo Faron, once an activist turned cynical bureaucrat, is abducted by the Fishes, a militant immigrant rights group led by his estranged wife, Julian Taylor. The couple separated following the death of their son during a 2008 flu pandemic. Julian offers Theo money to secure transit papers for a young refugee woman named Kee. Theo, obtaining the documents from his government minister cousin, agrees to escort Kee in exchange for a larger sum. As they head towards Canterbury with Fishes leader Luke and former midwife Miriam, an armed gang ambushes them, resulting in Julian's death. The group hides her body and heads to a safe house after killing two police officers.
Kee reveals to Theo that she is pregnant, the only known pregnant woman in the world. Julian had planned to take her to the Human Project, a research group in the Azores dedicated to curing infertility, which Theo doubts exists. Luke becomes the new Fishes leader, and Theo learns they orchestrated Julian's death to promote Luke's leadership. The Fishes intend to use Kee's baby as a political tool. Theo, Kee, and Miriam escape to Theo's reclusive friend Jasper Palmer's hideaway. Jasper, a former political cartoonist, lost his wife to government torture.
The group plans to reach the Human Project ship, the Tomorrow, offshore at Bexhill, a notorious immigrant detention center. Jasper plans to use Syd, an immigration officer, to smuggle them into Bexhill. The Fishes discover Jasper's house, and Theo watches as Luke murders Jasper. They meet with Syd, board a bus into the camp, and Kee gives birth with Marichka's help. War breaks out between the British military and refugees, and the Fishes infiltrate the camp. Syd reveals a bounty on Theo and Kee, attempting to capture them. Theo and Marichka subdue Syd, escaping but are ambushed by the Fishes, who capture Kee and the baby.
Theo tracks them to an apartment building under heavy fire. Confronting Luke, an explosion kills him, and Theo rescues Kee and the baby. The trio, with Marichka's guidance, heads to the boat. Marichka chooses to stay behind as they depart. British fighter jets strike Bexhill, and Theo, wounded by Luke earlier, teaches Kee how to care for her baby. She names the baby Dylan, after Theo's and Julian's lost son. Theo smiles weakly, loses consciousness, and dies as the Tomorrow approaches. Children's laughter is heard as the screen cuts to black.
